A neutral interval is an interval halfway between two sizes of a diatonic ordinal. The following are diatonic neutral intervals:
- Neutral second
- Neutral third
- Neutral/semiaugmented fourth
- Neutral/semidiminished fifth
- Neutral sixth
- Neutral seventh
The interval that separates neutral intervals from the corresponding large/small intervals is the semichroma, (L - s)/2.
