A neutral interval is an interval halfway between the two sizes of a MOS diatonic ordinal. The following are diatonic neutral intervals:
- Neutral second
- Neutral third
- (Neutral/semiaugmented fourth)
- (Neutral/semidiminished fifth)
- Neutral sixth
- Neutral seventh
The interval that separates neutral intervals from the corresponding large/small intervals is the semichroma, (L - s)/2.
